Katies Korner’s owners, Leeann and Billy Billman, have thirty-five years combined in the childcare field, with fifteen of those in licensed group care. They each earned Early Childhood Educator certification from Malaspina University-College (now VIU.) Katie’s Korner Childcare is a natural
extension of their love for working with children.
Caring for our Caregivers
Parents are asked to reciprocate the respect and trust that our staff offers both parents
and children. We are fortunate to have highly skilled, experienced, and professional caregivers. The owners ask parents to join them in recognizing that our caregivers’ talents are what makes Katies Korner such a special place. Wages for childcare workers don’t reflect their years of specialized training or experience. Katies Korner tries to maintain a balance between parents’ ability to pay and staff salaries with working conditions.
Caregivers work in a demanding profession. Our staff are seeking to upgrade their skills through workshops and regular staff meetings. Meeting the needs of the children may mean working longer than their paid day or skipping a coffee or meal break. Parents are asked to be thoughtful of our staff. Please try to lighten their workload whenever possible: follow the centre’s hours and cooperate with its policies.
